Longtime Monte Vista resident Samuel Lloyd Smith, 75, passed away on May 10, 2018. He was born on February 23, 1943 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Lloyd and Goldie Smith. He enjoyed gardening, being outside, hunting for asparagus, picking on people and especially spending time with his children and his grandchildren.

Sam is survived by his children, Monica (James) Henderson of Sweetwater, Texas, Billie Jo (Donald) McVey of Colorado City, Texas, Sarah Paulson of Mobile. Alabama and Pat Paulson also of Mobile, Alabama, his grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Elric Henderson, Myshella (Zack) Cox, Shawndon (Stormy) McVey, Donald McVey, Jaron Rivera, Isaiah Cervantes and KayCee Cervantes, nine great grandchildren as well as his siblings, Helen Yelineck of Cortez, Colorado, Jane Christopher of Monte Vista, Connie Boyd of Denver, Lawrence (Woody) Smith of Arizona, Jack Smith of Monte Vista and Veda Mascarenas of Monte Vista as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma Ann Robins, and his siblings, Ronnie, Billy, Joe and Mary.

Cremation was selected and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Conour SLV Animal Shelter and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
